August Brand Watch: Graphic Streetwear

On the back of London’s coolest streetwear tradeshow, Margin we’ve selected five shiny new names for you to watch out for!

1INA100
1INA100 is a truly collaborative brand aiming to use the canvas of a blank tee as a real platform to promote new artists. Every artist is given free reign to produce what they wish and each edition is limited to just 100 silk screens (which are hand numbered). The cut of the t-shirt itself is bespoke, these aren’t just your mass-produced flat-packed jobs making for real, collectible products.

Makia
Finnish label Makia made their debut in the UK at Margin showing off their graphic prints, their first ever womenswear line and a special collaboration with Urchin. The latest collection revolves around ‘The Life Aquatic’with myriad takes on oceanic motifs from jaws-style shark teeth around the necklines to puffer fish placements to illustrative jellyfish.

KNK Clothing
The ethos behind Sallyanne McCrory’s streetwear line? To fill a much needed gap in the womenswear streetwear market. Her garments are full of hidden pouches, pockets, water proof flaps and other little quirks. This season’s line features Katie Eary style digital photo prints, manipulated and re-coloured by the designer from her inspiring trip to Amsterdam. The latest project is a follow up to her previous occupation of customising hoodies – one of which she has created for none other than the British Prime Minister David Cameron!

Trikki
Another brand new label, this skate and street brand is looked after by brother and sister team Nikki and Rikki! It’s a sports-inspired range with eye popping colours and cartoon-style graphics, this season reflecting the relentless quest for success. The theme of ‘hardwork’ is essential to the brand albeit with a tagline reminding you to ‘make it look so easy’.

Dumpe Fresh
French hip-hop label Dumpe Fresh has finally set their sights on the UK market targeting the vibrant UK grime and bassline scenes. It’s shamelessly all about the bling and knows it- think gold ingot bar motifs, dollar signs and fancy cars. The latest collection avoids the clichés and incorporates some fun and vibrant robot motifs and even a Givenchy-style scarf print tee.
