BREAD & BUTTER – The Finishing Touches

Our final wrap up of Bread & Butter, Berlin looking at accessories to put the finishing touches to SS11. Here’s a low down on what stood out as key trends or hot looks.
The retro theme continues with footwear and eyewear taking on a 1950’s/60’s vibe in keeping with apparel. We particularly loved the canvas footwear feel for guys and girls. The opposing look is the high shine and modern trend with plastics and patents still strong. So too, metal hardware in bags, footwear and jewellery.
Snakeskin and tooled leathers with a Mexican feel that works well with the aged and authentic denim looks prevalent. Lots of mesh and cut outs, plus lace effects on leathers mirroring the feminine and ‘Boudoir’ trend happening in Womenswear. And for the more ethnic and exotic looks that’s strong for next summer, there are more decorative and embellished accessories; beaded and embroidered scarves, bags and crafted jewellery. As always, it’s an electic accessory season.
