Britain Creates

As part of our celebration of all things British, we are inspired to share an exciting new project,Britain Creates 2012: Fashion & Art Collusion', an artistic project, providing a unique opportunity to celebrate and strengthen the longstanding relationships between fashion designers and visual artists.

Iconic British designers have paired together with top contemporary artists and collaborated on specially commissioned one-off works of art. The specially created exclusive pieces were unveiled at a VIP Gala fundraising event at the Old Selfridges Hotel this week before going on free public display at the Victoria and Albert Museum from 6th to 29th of July.

Selfridges Oxford St windows, an art gallery accessible to the high street masses, will preview new and exclusive work by some of the featured artists inspired by the pieces they have created for Britain Creates 2012: Fashion & Art Collusion

The artists and designers featuring in Selfridges’ windows are Giles Deacon with Jeremy Deller; Hussein Chalayan with Gavin Turk; Mary Katrantzou with Mark Titchner; Paul Smith with Charming Baker; Jonathan Saunders with Jess Flood-Paddock; and Peter Pilotto with Francis Upritchard.
