New York Fashion Week SS11 Day 1: Willow
Always keeping an eye on our Australian rising stars, SCOUT was excited to start off Fashion Week with Willow’s SS11 collection. Kit Willow has hit rising star status internationally. Willow has been picked up by online luxury giant Net-a-Porter and more recently been capturing the imagination of quirky front woman Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine. The British singer has been rocking Willow’s designs on stage and on the red carpet. Net-a-Porter even had to reorder the AW10 tattoo dress that the singer wore on the red carpet in August. All this is great news for the Aussie designer who knows how to create exquisitely beautiful, feminine looks. Her SS11 show on Wednesday was no exception. Willow showed her unique craftsmanship with asymmetric drapes and folds in digital silk prints. Always one for using beautiful prints, Kit Willow found inspiration in painterly zebra stripes in graphic black and white and soft, earthy grains in neutrals and brown tones. Capturing a contemporary tribal feeling that looked new in sexy, skin baring cuts. Throw in some bright & youthful bustiers and you have a look that is fit for red carpet, stage and night club.
We are sure that America will be taking even more notice of Willow this season.
