Giant Robot

If you’re in San Francisco between now and August 22, be sure to drop by the Giant Robot pop-up store at the Museum of Craft and Folk Art. Giant Robot started as a photocopied ‘Zine 10 years ago, when 2 Asian-Americans, Eric Nakamura and Martin Wong, sharing a love of skateboarding and Japanese toys, decided there was a need to support and promote Asian pop-culture in the US. From the big names like actor Jet Li to local illustrators and artists, Giant Robot’s features found an enthusiastic audience. The brand has expanded to a website with retail, plus 4 stores/ galleries around the US. Now, you can buy obscure toys from Japan, cool T-shirts, skateboards and original paintings.
