In flux Parisian
New York recently saw the arrival of a bit more Parisian spirit with the opening of the first stateside Isabel Marant boutique. In recent seasons, Marants' signature fluid, bohemian chic dressing has created a cult following among fashion insiders and the stylish masses alike that unfortunately has never been totally accessible and easy to find here in the states. But, with this highly anticipated opening, a change is about to ensue.
Housed in an airy former Soho loft space, the boutique was designed by architect, Nicholas Andre. Light floods in and around the floor and through the beams of a blonde wood sculpture slash structure that resembles a honeycomb and provides a unique display for the jewellery and accessory lines. The feel is utterly modern. The wood against the polished roughness of the open industrial space provides a perfect atmosphere for the clothes.
The spring collection is fueled with fuchsia and flaxen colours that brightly contrast the space. The feel is slightly worn with Bedouin touches and snappy tailoring. Woven jackets have softly moulded shoulders and jewel and metal embellishments. Knitted fur vests are super luxe to the touch and perfect for springs outdoor concerts. Wispy linen and cotton separates from the Etoile line feature faded prints that recall tiny feathers. Simple tees are soft with intricate loopy Indian hand embroidery around the neck and shoulders. The look is effortless elegant. C’est chic and a new major perk on the New York retail scene.
