Monocle Pops Up In Hong Kong

As Scout reported a couple of weeks ago on a recent visit to Hong Kong, the rumour that Tyler Brule was set to open a new pop up store for Monocle Magazine in a corner the Lane Crawford’s home store in Pacific Place, certainly was a rumour that spread fast. We can report that there were huge crowds for the opening last week which probably says more to the pulling power of the Editor In Chief than the actual space itself (it’s very small). But after the success of other pop up shops in the department store, most notably Kim Jones’s recent fixture, the chance for Hong Kong residents and tourists alike to sample current and back issues of this ever growing and popular design-cum-lifestyle-cum-travel magazine as well the opportunity to purchase a select group of products such as the canvas Porter bags and other travel related accessories, will ensure that for the next few weeks at least this ‘hole in the wall’ Monocle shop will keep pundits happy if a little disappointed in the actual fit out.
The store closes at the end of May.
