The Forever Shop at Selfridges, London

Selfridge’s, Wonder Room is an ever changing pop-up store, picking up on contemporary culture and new trend-led themes every month. Recent re-inventions have included a Kid Robot room, an Alice in Wonderland room and a pop-up 90s vintage emporium. The latest incarnation, The Forever Shop takes a twist as a celebration of all things classic, timeless and forever loved.

In retaliation to fast-fashion and the hunt for the new, curators Alannah Weston (Selfridge’s Creator Director), Michelle Ogundehin (Elle Decoration Editor in Chief) and British designer Sir Paul Smith have selected a host of familiar collectibles as well as ‘future heirlooms’. We’re talking the pristine Converse All Star white plimsoll, Doctor Martin’s classic black 8 hole boot, Hermes’ silk scarf and covetable Kelly bag, Burberry’s classic trench, the Chanel 2.55 handbag, Levi’s 501 jeans, Rayban Wayfarers, the Filofax, the Rolex stainless steel watch…the Vespa!

Alannah Weston has created an edit of modern design icons from Tom Dixon and his mirror ball lights to Philippe Starck’s stainless steel knives and the Sony TX1Cybershot camera. Paul Smith has selected his ‘Top ten books to read and love’ from Lady Chatterly’s Lover to Harry Potter and The Philosopher’s Stone! To round it all off, New York blogger of ‘Advanced Style’ Ari Seth Cohen is photographing ‘classic’ shoppers in the store and on the streets of London to be displayed as a photographic exhibition within the store.

Open until 15th August. Store photos courtesy of Ari Seth Cohen.
