The Supercool

The Supercool represents what is possibly the next stage in pop-up retail. Coining the term “pop-up 2.0”, Kate Vandermeer and her partner, Noonie have launched in Melbourne a well-stocked pop-up store that will travel its wares as apposed to being just a 'fixed' temporary space.

“This idea of creating a temporary shop for locals resonated with us given the state of the current retail environment”, explains Kate, who evidently draws upon the skills and trend analysis needed for her additional and successful project, iSpyStyle.

For The Supercool, Kate and Noonie have hand-selected both local and international product and displayed it in a way that clearly reflects Kate's advantageous background in visual merchandising. Vintage soda bottles, pretty stationary, design books, chairs, lights, toys and posters fill the beautifully-arranged space to collectively form a very good wish list for the approaching Christmas and gift giving season.

Unlike online shopping, The Supercool hopes to encourage and supply a more inspirational and engaging shopping experience that ultimately echoes the historical past which Kate sought her approach from: “ we were fascinated with the concept of vintage peddlers who were the original mobile retailers' taking their ware to wherever the people were.”
