Topshop goes premium in Knightsbridge
Topshop Oxford Circus is probably at the top of every travelling fashionistas holiday hit list. The humble high street brand has transcended from UK fast-fashion staple to global megabrand aspired to by the competition, loved by celebrities and loyally followed by the style conscious. Last week, Topshop cemented their premium-brand status by opening up a second flagship megastore on some of London’s priciest real estate…right opposite Harrod’s in Knightsbridge.
The opening night was graced by the London A-List including Kate Moss, Philip Green and the high priestess herself, Anna Wintour. The new 14,000 square foot retail space is the slickest most upmarket format of the UK chain to date and it’s certainly equipped for an equally prestige clientele. A concierge service will book anything a jaded shopper needs from a quick-sharp taxi to a restaurant reservation. A personal shopping service menu caters for every fashion SOS from a last minute party fix to a full on wardrobe cleanse. The high-end ranges are prominent from the likes of Kate Moss, Meadham Kirchhoff and a pre-launch of Mask Fast’s knitwear for the retailer. An exclusive-to-Knightsbridge, limited edition line of dresses start at around £130, heralding a determined push by the brand to propel itself into the big leagues. And it has to if it’s going to stand tall on the corner of Harrods, Harvey Nichols and Gucci.
