WILD & WILLOW
Australian designer Kit Willow while continuing to present her collections out of London, has drawn her design inspiration from her Australian homeland for her Resort 2013 collection Surface Elements which is a study of relationships between humans and animals, juxtaposed with architectural silhouettes and animal skin textures. The print of the season is Australian crocodile skin with its unique textural form, which looks so realistic that the draped dresses and pants it’s featured on look like real crocodile skins. We love the metallic version and the dresses where skins are mixed with dramatic black.
A move away from Willow’s shots of bright colours, this collection is very ‘au natural’ in tonal hues of nude, taupe and cream and the tonal theme looks fresh for SS13. While the colours are new, some of the shapes continue on from AW12/13 with voluminously draped godets and hemlines creating Willow’s signature silhouette. SCOUT's pick for the season is the architectural dress seen in the second images, which comes in a number of colour and fabric variations, but is signature Willow. We also love the Helmut Newton-esque take on corsetry, classic covertable Willow.
