5 Things to know about London Fashion Week

London Fashion Week has just happened and it seems to be the talk of the town. Just like New York, London designers are keeping up with exploring present-day subjects like feminist empowerment, tolerance and diversity.

1) Queen Elizabeth’s presence on Richard Quinn’s show was an incredible surprise. The monarch was there to endow an award for the young talent for his contribution to society. Quinn houses a fantastic print equipment which he gives access to for his fellow designers and fashion students.

2) Christopher Kane chose to talk about feminism through the lens of sexual liberation, showing prints and shapes created in a very provocative way.

3) For Gareth Pug, women empowerment was also a theme, but he used his eye for form and construction to create impactful and dramatic silhouettes. A similar shape was also seen in Marc Jacobs' show as you can see here in our post about New York shows.

4) Chalayan decided to examine the immigration and its dynamics of adaptation, creating layers in his collection, that made clothes changed from one thing to another throughout the collection.

5) Not exactly a surprise but very emotional was the farewell to Christopher Bayley, who is leaving Burberry after 17 years. The nostalgic show celebrated the renewal through constant contact with streetwear that Bayley has left as a legacy to the brand.

Quite a week!
