Fashion + Nature next year on Victoria and Albert Museum

Victoria and Albert Museum, the world’s leading museum of Art and Design announced the next Fashion exhibition: “Fashioned from Nature”. Opening in April 2018, the exposition will explore the complex relationships between fashion and nature throughout the centuries. By presenting pieces from 1600 to the present days, Fashioned from Nature aims to examine how nature has served both as a source of materials and inspiration.

Pieces like a floral embroidered jacket from the 1600’s will share the space with Stella McCartney’s eco-fashion work and outfits like the Calvin Klein dress worn by Emma Watson to the MET Gala 2016, which fabric was made of recycled plastic bottles. It’s a very relevant exhibition, in a moment when the concern with the impact of Fashion on the planet consolidates.

Here at SCOUT we've been discussing the relationship between fashion and nature for the past seasons on our LIFE books: SS18 "Organic Life", AW18/19 "Life Offline" and also on our latest release SS19 Life, through "Super-nature" trend. Interested? Click here to order the book.
