Kate Rohde & Romance Was Born: Renaissance Dinosaur

On a cold and wet Wednesday night in Melbourne, the Karen Woodbury Gallery ticked our fancies with the opening of a highly coloured and theatrically loud fashion/art exhibition. An abundance of free-flowing champagne was happily received, which helpfully or not, contributed to the psychedelic craziness that spread across wallpaper, sculptures, fashion and accessories.

Undoubtedly this had to be the result of Anna Plunket and Luke Sales of Sydney-based label, Romance Was Born. Continuing their collaborative style with local artist, Kate Rohde, this exhibition showcases the SS10/11 Renaissance Dinosaur collection, previously seen at Sydney's Rosemont Australian Fashion Week.

Illuminating a white gallery space, sculptures of deer, antelope, and dinosaurs playfully create a whimsical world that is a welcome optimism from the grey outside.

The Kate Rohde & Romance Was Born exhibition shall be on at the Karen Woodbury Gallery in Melbourne until September 18.
