London Retail Spring 2011

April has certainly felt more like summer than spring in London with temperatures pushing 30, meaning the bright offerings on the rails feel more than appropriate.

Zara’s looking super slick on the high street, with bright block colours styled with optic white and nude in gorgeous cuts. Lines and cuts are clinically precise, ultra crisp and scientifically sliced – amplified with laboratory goggles on the mannequins. Sunshine yellow, orange juice and fuschia are mixed and matched in lightweight crepes.

Youth styling sees primary colours render cotton basics – pelmet skirts, nautical striped tees and single breasted blazers. Pure white denim and tanned leather temper the look down. Bright socks styled with heels are a key styling trend and a super easy way to incorporate a flash of rainbow bright for colour-phobes.

H&M dives head-first into summer with top-to-toe pure white! Prairie blouses are teamed with high-waist shorts whilst folky, frill dresses stand alone with sandals. Again, Zara demonstrate a complete command of colour getting just the right balance of latte nude, black and white in folds of fabric than fall over the body and must-have maxi skirts.
